Another new track for Land of the Gods, my Zelda-inspired concept album! This track is a second version of my previously posted song, Ruined Village, but dramatically different. This song would play in the same town as Ruined Village, but prior to the disaster that led to its disrepair. Consequently, the song carries the same melody (inspired by Kakariko Village: check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agR5aaQL2PY), but is much more upbeat and varied in its orchestration.
I struggled for a few days writing this song (I started both this and Ruined Village at the same time), and had to seriously study the Zelda songs I wanted it to emulate. The first section I wrote is actually the last section of the song, where all of the woodwinds and strings come in, but I didn’t care for the way it sounded. After studying Outset Island from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG960gmNiKY), I added in pizzicato (plucked) strings to the song and a tambourine for percussion and it completely transformed the sound.
True Story: I wrote this melody while singing in the shower.
Fun Fact: After I write a section, I revise it three or four times before I’m satisfied. The final section had a revision for woodwind flourishes, pizzicato strings, bowed strings, and general volume (the final few notes were unbelievably loud).

I hope you enjoy the song! Feel free to post a comment or ask a question, and look out for a new piece (AND MY 40TH TRACK) in the next few days. It’s absolutely ENORMOUS, and my first piece to use an entire orchestra.
